It's funny how some people give great advice, but never take their own. People like me. Take my last post, for example. It might seem like grades are the last thing on my mind, but oh my gosh it is NOT. In fact, it's probably what I think about most of the time. I guess that makes me somewhat of a hypocrite, but I can't help it. I always tell people, "Go for it!" "Go talk to him!" "You'll be fine!". But when I try to tell myself that, something just switches off in my brain. I guess I'm so stubborn that I don't even listen to myself. The point is, if you have the same problem as me, try to take your own advice. If your advice worked for someone else, it probably should work for you too. Ah, another piece of advice I'm probably not going to follow. Another thing I found funny, is that people who are single give the greatest relationship advice, and yet they are still single. Hmmm....is there some sort of pattern to all of this?
Think Outside the Box
A lot of people constantly have things to worry about, whether it's grades, family, friends, safety, the list is infinite. Don't get me wrong, these things are really important, but I saw a quote that really changed my perspective on things, "Don't take life too seriously, no one gets out alive anyways." Although it does sound a bit morbid, it's true. Everyone dies. Nothing is going to last forever. The one thing I've noticed is that my peers all seem to have one concern: grades.Yes, grades are important, but they shouldn't become your life. There are much more important things to live for, things that will make your life worth something, or give it meaning, or make you happy. I always see people constantly talking about grades, whether they totally aced that math test or totally bombed that literature essay. Grades are just a part of your life, don't let it consume you and turn into your life. Try to think bigger, and outside this box you're kept in because of school. The next time a teacher slams a not so great paper on your desk, try to relax, because it honestly is not the end of your existence.
